NetApp Releases VTL OS 6.0.3

NetApp this week published VTL OS 6.0.3 as a maintenance release, targeting the VTL300, 700, and 1400 systems. Along with bug fixes, release includes:

Enhanced backup application support
Changes to post process and free-space build task scheduling for dedupe
New troubleshooting features
New virtual tape drive type templates
Support for use with DataFort appliances

VTL OS 6.0.3 replaces the previous 6.0.1 release. Deployments running 5.5, 5.6, and 5.6.2 should first contact Technical Support prior to updating to version 6.0.3.

Bio

NetApp Technical Lead at Arrow Electronics, focused on technical partner enablement throughout North America. Strong enterprise storage background: specializing in remote replication, data protection, and storage networking.

Brian is the author of LOGnomics: Understanding Log-structured File Systems, awarded as a NetApp Toaster in 2008, honored in President's Club 2007, and featured on the cover of Storage Magazine in May 2006.

Prior to joining Arrow, Brian was a storage administrator, spent several years as an application engineer, and served as a configuration management analyst at a large consulting company in Washington, DC.

In his free time, Brian enjoys playing piano, golf, and travel. Brian is married with two children and lives in Atlanta, GA.
